What Is Love School™?
Love School™ is a conceptual and practical framework for understanding how intimate relationships work—and intentionally creating the relationship you want.
At the heart of the model are two fundamental systems: attachment and sexual connection. Attachment shapes how safe, secure, and emotionally connected we feel with our partner. Sexual connection brings desire, pleasure, vulnerability, playfulness, and erotic intimacy into the relationship. The two continually influence each other, but each requires attention in its own right.
Through five structured stages, Love School™ helps couples understand the patterns shaping their relationship, repair relational injuries, strengthen emotional and physical connection, deepen intimacy, and develop the skills needed to create a more intentional partnership.

1. Attachment: Emotional Safety
Attachment is our fundamental need to feel emotionally secure and connected to the person we love. It continually asks some of the most important questions in a relationship: Can I rely on you? Do I matter to you? Will you be there when I need you? Are we truly connected?
When that sense of security is disrupted, couples may experience anxiety, withdrawal, loneliness, resentment, or recurring conflict. Strengthening attachment means creating a relationship in which both partners can reach for each other, respond to each other, and trust that it is safe to be vulnerable.
2. Sexual Connection (Erotic & Physical Intimacy)
Sexual connection is the erotic and physical dimension of an intimate relationship. It includes desire, pleasure, attraction, affection, vulnerability, curiosity, and the ability to communicate openly about sex.
Maintaining sexual connection over time requires more than loving each other. Couples need to navigate differences in desire, communicate what they want and don’t want, preserve room for playfulness and exploration, and adapt as their bodies, circumstances, and relationship change.
Attachment and sexual connection are deeply intertwined, but they are not interchangeable. Love School™ teaches couples to understand, strengthen, and nurture both.
What You’ll Learn
Stage 1: Understanding the Relationship System
Replaces confusion with clarity by uncovering the emotional, psychobiological, and relational dynamics driving your relationship. Couples identify core attachment needs, recognize recurring conflict loops, understand stress responses, and shift from blame toward genuine curiosity.
Stage 4: Creating a Shared Relationship Vision
Shifts focus from fixing problems to co-creating a meaningful future. Partners explore shared values, align goals for sexuality and partnership, balance independence with togetherness, and define how they want their relationship to evolve.
Stage 2: Repairing Trust & Emotional Safety
Focuses on healing relational injuries, rebuilding reliability, and developing healthy conflict skills. As partners improve communication and emotional responsiveness during hard conversations, safety is restored and hope returns.
Stage 5: Sustaining Growth & Deepening Intimacy
Provides tools to maintain emotional and physical connection through life transitions, stress, and routine. Couples learn to keep playfulness, affection, and resilience alive, ensuring long-term growth rather than striving for unattainable perfection.
Stage 3: Restoring Intimacy & Sexual Connection
Addresses physical disconnection by decoding desire mismatches, reducing performance anxiety, releasing shame, and restoring affection. Couples move from expecting intimacy to happen automatically to actively cultivating authentic, low-pressure closeness.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the Love School™ Model designed for?
Love School™ is designed for couples who want a clear framework for understanding their relationship and strengthening it. It can be useful whether you’re trying to break long-standing patterns, rebuild emotional or sexual connection, or deepen a relationship that is already working well. You don’t have to wait until your relationship is in crisis to learn how to make it stronger.
Is Love School™ considered clinical therapy?
Love School™ is a conceptual and practical framework designed to help couples understand their relationship and intentionally create the relationship they want. The Love School™ Model forms the foundation for many of the clinical principles we use at The Couples Project. Outside of therapy, it makes those ideas accessible to couples through relationship education, skill-building, and practical tools they can apply in their everyday lives. Love School™ itself is not clinical therapy. It is a framework for understanding how healthy intimate relationships develop, what gets in the way, and what couples can do to strengthen emotional and sexual connection.
How do attachment and sexual connection interact within this model?
Emotional safety and sexual connection continually influence each other. Feeling secure with your partner makes it easier to be vulnerable, playful, curious, and sexually open. At the same time, affection, desire, and sexual connection can strengthen the feeling that you are more than partners managing a life together. Love School™ addresses both because a strong intimate relationship needs more than good communication. It needs both emotional security and a sense of aliveness between you.
